Decision:

REFUSED AND ENFORCEMENT ACTION AUTHORISED

Minutes:

Description of application - 1.5m high front gates and railings to front.

RETROSPECTIVE APPLICATION.

Ward Member, Councillor Simon Fawthrop, circulated to the Sub-Members the Petts Wood Area of Special Residential Character Description attached as Annex 1 to these Minutes.  He spoke on behalf of his fellow Ward Members in objection to the application and his comments are attached as Annex 2 to these Minutes.

Members having considered the report and objections, RESOLVED that PERMISSION BE REFUSED for the following reason and informative to read:-

1.  The 1.5m high front gates and railings to front, by reason of their height, siting and design, result in an overly prominent and visually intrusive enclosure of the site, leading to the erosion of the open character of the Petts Wood Area of Special Residential Character and causing adverse harm to the character and appearance of the streetscene in general, thereby contrary to Policies BE1, BE7 and H10 of the Unitary Development Plan.

It was FURTHER RESOLVED that ENFORCEMENT ACTION BE AUTHORISED for the REMOVAL OF THE 1.5M HIGH FRONT GATES AND RAILINGS.

INFORMATIVE:  You are advised that enforcement action has been authorised in respect of some or all of the development subject of this planning decision and you should contact the Planning Investigation Team on 020 8461 7730 or by email to planningappeals@bromley.gov.uk to discuss what you need to do to avoid formal action by the Council.
