Contract Extension for Call Monitoring Function of Carelink

Decision Maker: Portfolio Holder for Adult Care and Health

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Decision:

That the call monitoring contract for CareLink (community alarm and telecare services) be extended for a period of six months from 1st October 2016 to 31st March 2017.

Reasons for the decision:

CareLink is a community alarm and telecare service supporting approximately 1700 Bromley service users to live more independently and with the ability to call for assistance if required.  The service is currently managed through separate contracts for supply and installation of equipment and call monitoring/handling of the alarms, as well as an in-house team that provides a mobile response service.  The Local Authority is seeking to market test for an end-to-end managed service for one provider (or lead provider if a consortium) to provide an holistic service which covers all elements of service provision, with the new contract expected to be in place for early 2017.  To facilitate this process, it is requested that the existing call handling contract be extended for a period of six months with a one month break clause.
