PARKING SERVICES - CONTRACTOR PERFORMANCE REVIEW - APCOA PARKING, JANUARY 23

Decision Maker: Portfolio Holder for Transport, Highways and Road Safety

Decision status: For Determination

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Decision:

The Portfolio Holder for Transport, Highways and Road Safety approved the communication plan for the removal of the pay and display machines that could be seen in appendix 2 of the main report.

Reasons for the decision:

It was agreed in report number ECS20177, presented to the Environment and Community Services Policy Development and Scrutiny Committee on the 22nd of November 2022, that pay and display machines would be removed by April 2023. It was agreed that before the machines were removed, advanced warning signs would be installed in all car parks confirming how to download and use the parking app and how to make payment via the phone. Officers have been working on a publicity campaign; posters are being designed to be displayed in various locations around the borough as well as leaflets which will be handed out at libraries and doctors surgeries. There are various work streams being worked upon to make residents aware of the changes.

The communication plan will maximise the use of various advertising streams to publicise the removal of the pay and display machines and will promote the move to cashless only for pay.
