Consultation Outcomes: Proposal to Expand Keston CE Primary School

Decision Maker: Portfolio Holder for Children, Education and Families

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

Part 1

Decision:

That the proposed expansion of Keston CE Primary School with an additional ‘bulge’ year of one form of entry for the academic year 2013-14 be agreed, and that serious consideration be given to alternate school sites for permanent expansion.

That Officers be authorised to undertake the formal statutory processes for the temporary expansion of a school for a ‘bulge year’ for the academic year 2013-14.

Reasons for the decision:

The Local Authority’s review of Bromley primary school places in 2012 identified the need to increase the number of Reception places available to children at a number of schools across the Borough.

Having admitted an additional 30 Reception pupils in September 2012 and 2013 in ‘bulge’ years, it is proposed to expand Keston CE Primary school with an additional ‘bulge’ year of one form of entry for the academic year 2013-14, as Keston CE Primary School has been judged by Ofsted to be an Outstanding school and is over-subscribed.
