Reasons for the decision:
The School Governance Working Group was established at the meeting of Education PDS Committee on 23rd January 2013 to ensure that the Local Authority has a pool of well trained governors able to play an effective role in ensuring that schools are well governed.
At the first meeting of the School Governance Working Group on 12th March 2013, the Working Group discussed a range of issues impacting on the recruitment, role and responsibilities of Local Authority Governors, and made recommendations around how this could be better developed.
