Decision:

(1)  That the latest 2013/14 budget projection for the Environment Portfolio Holder is endorsed.

 

(2) That progress with the implementation of the Environment projects within the Member Priority Initiatives programme is noted.

 

(3) That the Executive be requested to approve funding to meet the additional disposal costs for leaves and detritus, without drawing down from the £200k held in central contingency for the street cleansing contract.

Reasons for the decision:

The latest budget monitoring assessment, based on expenditure and activity levels up to the end of September 2013, is for a projected overspend of £670k. Additional expenditure has been incurred as a result of the recent storm and due to new requirements for the disposal of leaves and detritus. The option of requesting the Executive to allow a draw down of £200k from central contingency for the street cleansing contract was proposed, but it is considered that the funding for the disposal of leaves and detritus should be found from corporate budgets.
