REVISED INSTRUMENT OF GOVERNANCE - JAMES DIXON PRIMARY SCHOOL

Decision Maker: Portfolio Holder for Children, Education and Families

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Decision:

That the revised Instrument of Government be approved.

That the Portfolio Holder for Education instructs that the Instrument be made by the Common Seal of the London Borough of Bromley.

That the change in category of James Dixon Primary School from a Local Authority Maintained School to a Foundation School from 28th February 2014 be noted.

Reasons for the decision:

Every school must have an Instrument of Government recording the name of the school and the constitution of the Governing Body.  It is the Governing Body’s responsibility to prepare a draft instrument for submission to the Local Authority and the Authority must be content that the draft applies to all applicable statutory requirements.

The Governing Body of James Dixon Primary School circulated a letter on 17th September 2013 to advise the Local Authority and other key stakeholders of their decision to consult on a proposed change of status from Local Authority Community to Foundation status.  The consultation process closed on 14th October 2014 and following consideration of the consultation responses, a notice describing the proposed alternation of category from Community to Foundation status was displayed from the 6th November 2013 on the front gate of James Dixon Primary School, in the window of Anerley Post Office and on the notice board of Anerley Public Library, as well as being published in the local press, with the final consultation closing on 6th December 2013.
