INSURANCE RENEWALS 2016/17 - UPDATE ON AWARD OF CONTRACTS

Decision Maker: Portfolio Holder for Resources, Commissioning and Contracts Management

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Decision:

(1) That the insurance tender process for property, motor, fidelity guarantee, personal accident, school journey, minibuses shops blanket, and engineering inspections be re-run.

(2) That existing insurance contracts, currently due to expire on 30th April 2016, be extended for three months to 31st July 2016.

Reasons for the decision:

The Council had intended to tender its insurance policies (excluding casualty insurance) through the Crown Commercial Services (CCS) Framework with a start date of 1st May 2016. However, on 25th February 2016 it was announced that the framework was expiring and it was no longer possible to proceed. It is therefore necessary to extend the current contracts by three months to allow re-tendering under the new CCS Framework.
