Gate Report - New Framework Agreement for the Provision of Essential Household Goods

Decision Maker: Portfolio Holder for Adult Care and Health

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Decision:

That the proposal to proceed to procurement to establish a new Framework Agreement for the provision of essential household goods to commence on 1st April 2017 to 31st March 2021 for a period of four years be agreed.

Reasons for the decision:

The objectives of this service assist in achieving the targets set out in the Local Authority’s “Building a Better Bromley” vision and the Homelessness Strategy to promote independence, reduce homelessness and minimise the use and length of stay in emergency accommodation for vulnerable people and families.

Although this scheme is not a statutory service, it supports the Local Authority to meet its statutory rehoming duties for homeless people.  The provision of essential household goods for eligible households can also assist in offering suitable long term housing and allow clients to move on from costly temporary accommodation.
