Decision:

The schemes listed at Appendix A to Report ES17066 form the next phase of the Council’s investment programme of planned highway maintenance for 2017/19, to be undertaken by the Council’s existing highway term maintenance contractors.

Reasons for the decision:

Following the Council’s decision (12th December 2016) to invest capital funding in planned highway maintenance (allowing the condition of the borough’s non-principal and unclassified roads and footways to be improved so reducing demand for reactive maintenance), the decision above outlines a third phase of planned carriageway and footway maintenance programmes following Phases 1 and 2 approved in January 2017 and July 2017.

The overall capital investment will enable annual revenue savings of £2.5m to be made - totalling £12.5m over five years from 2017/18 - which will be partly offset by a total estimated reduction in treasury management income of £167k over the five year period. The estimated cost of works for Phase 3 is £2m.
