(1) Findings of the Post Completion Review carried out in respect of Stand-by Generators for Depots is endorsed.
(2) The unspent balance will be removed from the capital programme.
Report ES17061 provides a post implementation review on acquiring stand-by generators for use at depots; back-up power ensuring the depots can function in the event of a total or partial loss of electrical power so minimising disruption to essential services operating from the bases.
Given its layout, two heavy duty mobile generator units are appropriate for Central depot; it was also necessary to modify the five separate electrical intake points servicing the Depot.
Use of trailer mounted mobile units will ease transportation to outlying depots such as Churchfields Depot and Shire Lane Salt Depot as well as other Council establishments who might need back-up power.
The equipment forms part of the emergency plant group held by Transport Operations and is available to support the Emergency Planning Manager in other reactive response across the Borough where power might be required.
The scheme completed within budget with the original contract programme met. Final scheme costs amounted to £75k from a capital budget of £120k. The unspent balance of £45k will be removed from the capital programme.
