DOCKLESS E-BIKES

Decision Maker: Portfolio Holder for Environment and Community Services

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Decision:

(1)  The trial E-Bike hire scheme is to be initiated.

(2)  Authorisation is given to sign the Memorandum of Understanding with Lime Technology Limited.

Reasons for the decision:

In co-operation with L B Bromley, Lime Technology Limited are looking to initiate a trial in the borough of their hire scheme for dockless electrically assisted bicycles. Report ES19031 provides further background including an appended draft Memorandum of Understanding for the trial.

Lime Technology operate a similar scheme in a number of towns and cities worldwide including Milton Keynes, L B Brent, and L B Ealing in the UK.

Although a small amount of officer time is likely to monitor the success of the scheme and address any issues, an initial trial scheme will run independently of the Council and require no capital or ongoing financial assistance from L B Bromley (the Council will, however, incur some costs in the unlikely event of having to remove bikes left unattended long term).
