Decision Maker: Portfolio Holder for Environment and Community Services
Decision status: Recommendations Approved
Is Key decision?: Yes
Is subject to call in?: Yes
The Portfolio Holder agreed that the maintenance and management of the Council’s winter service fleet continued to be incorporated into the Highway Minor Works Contract provided by Rineyvia a variation to the contract at an estimated cost of £83,000 p.a. for the remaining 5 years of the Contract.
The Portfolio Holder decided that Riney should continue to provide the future maintenance of the winter service fleet because of the business case outlined in the relevant report. Riney exercised direct control over the winter service fleet that they insured and utilised. Maintenance arrangements had operated well during the previous two years. This had included both scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance for the gritting equipment, and resulted in additional benefits to the service, with breakdown cover and spare part availability provided on a direct basis, thereby reducing vehicle down time and improving service performance.
