Decision:

TREE PRESERVATION ORDER CONFIRMED

Minutes:

Ward Member, Councillor Nicky Dykes, was unable to attend the meeting and she had emailed her comments to Democratic Services with a request that they be reported and minuted.  The Chairman referred Members to the copy statement in front of them but Councillor Dyke’s comments were not read out.  The following comments were incorporated in her statement:-

“I would respectively ask the Committee to reject the Tree Preservation Order.  I believe the trees are important to the appearance of the locality and would not like to see any over zealous pruning or damage.  However, I am concerned in this case that a Tree Preservation Order does not oblige the owner to keep the tree well maintained which therefore places an unfair burden on neighbours not able to undertake basic maintenance work without permission.  The debris that falls from the tree and the real risks of branches failing into their garden are therefore a real concern.”

Members having considered the report and objections RESOLVED that TREE PRESERVATION ORDER NO 2548 relating to a sycamore tree in the back garden of 25 Gwydyr Road and an Ash tree in the back garden of  29 Gwydyr Road be confirmed, as recommended in the report of the Chief Planner.
