Councillor Tony Owen was appointed Chairman for 2013/14 and Councillor Michael Tickner was appointed Vice-Chairman for 2013/14.

Apologies for absence were received from Councillors Michael Tickner and Michael Turner, who was replaced by Councillor Nicholas Bennett.  

There were no declarations of interest.

RESOLVED that the minutes of the meeting held on 25^th October 2012 (excluding exempt information) be confirmed as a correct record, subject to some minor corrections in minutes 5 and 6.

The Chairman to move that the Press and public be excluded during consideration of the items of business listed below as it is likely in view of the nature of the business to be transacted or the nature of the proceedings that if members of the Press and public were present there would be disclosure to them of exempt information.

A Member queried whether the report really needed to be in part 2 of the agenda. The Chairman considered that there might be a need to discuss matters in part 2, but this could be looked at for the future.

The part 2 minutes of the meeting on 25^th October 2012 were agreed.

The Sub-Committee considered a report outlining the proposed one day strike on Thursday 17^th October 2013 by members of the NASUWT and the NUT as part of an escalation of national industrial action. Members agreed the Council’s response to the strike.
