The composition of Appointment Panels for choosing new Chief and Deputy Chief Officers was set by full Council at the annual meeting each year. The forthcoming appointment of a Director of Education and Care Services was of particular interest to a wide range of Members from more than one portfolio, and from all parties, so the Urgency Committee was asked to consider whether the normal membership of seven should be increased. The Committee concluded that it would be helpful to increase the Panel to nine Members by including an additional PDS Chairman and a representative from the Labour group.   

RESOLVED that the appointment panel for the recruitment of the Director of Education and Care services consist of the following Councillors - Eric Bosshard, Stephen Carr, Judi Ellis, Robert Evans, John Getgood, David McBride, Ernest Noad, Tony Owen and Stephen Wells.
