Description of application – Joint application for 46 & 48 Hazelmere Road:

46 - Single storey rear extension

48 - Loft conversion and single storey wraparound extension.

 

Oral representations in support of the application were received from the occupier of 48 Hazelmere Road, Petts Wood. In answer to a question from Councillor Charles Joel the occupier confirmed that she would be prepared to reduce the sky lights from three to one.  Oral representations from Ward Member, Councillor Simon Fawthrop were received at the meeting. 

 

Councillor Fawthrop welcomed the reduction in sky lights and did not object to the proposed rear extension.  He objected to the proposed wraparound extension and stressed the importance to retain the balance of the ‘peaked garages’ in the Area of Special Residential Character

 

Members having considered the report, objections and representations, RESOLVED that PERMISSION be GRANTED as recommended, subject to the conditions and informative set out in the report of the Chief Planner with a further condition to read:-

“5. Details of the front roofslope (including the number, size and position of the front rooflights) should be submitted to and approved in writing by the Local Planning Authority before any work is commenced. The works shall be carried out in accordance with the approved details.

REASON: In order to comply with Policy BE1 and H10 of the Unitary Development Plan and in the interest of the appearance of the building and the visual amenities of the Petts Wood Area of Special Residential Character.
