Information about Standards Committee

The Standards Committee promotes and maintains a high standard of conduct by Bromley councillors and co-opted members.  It has a membership of nine Councillors and four Independent Persons also attend.  If you have any concerns about the behaviour of elected or co-opted Members, please contact us by post to the Monitoring Officer, Director of Corporate Services & Governance, Civic Centre, Stockwell Close, Bromley BR1 3UH, or by email to the Democratic Services contact officer listed below.

 

Public Questions

 

Members of the public are permitted to ask one question of up to 50 words at each meeting of the Committee.  The question must be relevant to the terms of reference of the Committee. Please let us know whether you will attend the meeting to put your question in person, or whether you require a written reply. All questions and replies are published in the minutes of the meeting. 

 

In accordance with the Council’s Constitution, questions from the public that are not specific to reports on the agenda must have been received in writing by 5pm, 10 working days before the date of the meeting. The deadline for the next meetings are expected to be:

 

Meeting on 17 July 2024: Wednesday 3 July 2024

Meeting on 7 November 2024: Thursday 24 October 2024

Meeting on 2 April 2025: Wednesday 19 March 2025

 

Questions specifically clarifying reports on the agenda should be received within two working days of the normal publication date of the agenda. The deadline is given on each agenda. 

 

At special meetings, only questions relating to reports on the agenda are taken.
