Committee

Executive

Purpose of committee

The Executive has seven Members and is the Council’s main decision making body.  It is chaired by the Leader of the Council.  It either makes decisions itself or six of its Members who hold Portfolios decide on matters relating to their specialist areas. The Portfolios cover:

·  Adult Care & Health;

·  Children, Education and Families;

·  Environment and Community Services;

·  Renewal, Recreation and Housing;

·  Resources, Commissioning and Contract Management;

·  Public Protection and Enforcement.

By law the Executive cannot take all Council decisions - some matters have to be decided elsewhere, principally by the Development Control Committee and the General Purposes and Licensing Committee and their Sub-Committees.

In accordance with the Council’s Constitution, questions from the public that are not specific to reports on the agenda must have been received in writing by 5pm, 10 working days before the date of the Executive’s meeting. The deadlines are expected to be:

Meeting on 16th October 2019: 5pm on Wednesday 2nd October 2019

Meeting on 27th November 2019: 5pm on Wednesday 13th November 2019

Meeting on 12th February 2020: 5pm on Wednesday 29th January 2020

Meeting on 1st April 2020: 5pm on Wednesday 18th March 2020
